At InfoTrust, we believe that our success is someone else’s miracle. Our foundation, a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, strives to carry out this belief in a tangible way by supporting a number of causes both close to home and abroad. One such cause we strongly believe in supporting is education—in particular, creating safe, accessible, and equitable academic environments in which students can learn and grow.
Earlier this year, the InfoTrust Foundation purchased nine new laptops for the students of Grain of Rice Academy in Nanyuki, Kenya. This relatively new boarding school—doors opened to students in May 2020 shortly after construction—is for underprivileged children in Kenya, many of whom would not have access to funds for school otherwise.
Grain of Rice Academy, part of the Grain of Rice Project outreach mission in Kenya, was founded by Amy (Back) Ahiga. Amy is a former art teacher from Indiana who has a heart for the Kenyan people; she currently lives in Kenya fulltime with her husband and son, and is director of the school.
Originally operating out of Kibera—the largest urban slum in Africa—the Grain of Rice Project team recently relocated to Nanyuki, a village 4.5 hours from Nairobi. Here, through donations and fundraising events, they have constructed a campus on their 8.5 acres that includes the Grain of Rice Project artisan program (with a focus on economic empowerment), volunteer housing, vegetable gardens, and of course, Grain of Rice Academy.
We are incredibly grateful to see the students and educators at Grain of Rice Academy making the most of their time with technology in the classroom. If you would like to join us in supporting the school or simply learn more about the cause, please visit grainofrice.org today.
About the InfoTrust Foundation
Giving back to the community is more than just something we do, it’s a core part of InfoTrust’s culture.
Businesses hold a unique opportunity to leverage growth as a way to give back to local and global communities. Our growth should not only benefit the company, but allows us to give back on an increasingly wider scale. Each employee takes part in the InfoTrust Foundation‘s mission by dedicating time quarterly and on an as-needed basis to charity events and drives.
The InfoTrust Foundation is committed to serving a variety of local and global causes via external non-profits and establishing our own programs, such as Basket Brigade.
“Our success is someone else’s miracle.”
