At InfoTrust, there is such a thing as a free lunch. It is a benefit that we provide each day to our employees. Depending on the employee, it can be the best benefit we offer (hungry analysts) or the biggest hassle of the day (poor intern who has to order it). While it means something different to each employee, our intent is clear on providing food. It’s to trap the employees at their desk all day (just kidding, no one really eats at their desk).
The Happy Factor
Who doesn’t enjoy food in some capacity? The bottom line is that it makes our employees happy and increases morale. People get excited for lunch to arrive or when a certain restaurant is on the schedule. It’s a small thing to look forward to each day, not wonder what you are going to do for your next meal.
A very important part of our culture is happy employees. Sometimes deep in the summer months, we also have ice cream parties. That’s how far we are willing to go for happy employees.
Connections
How many times do you get to share a meal with the owner of your company? Great face time, right? Eating together promotes camaraderie and teamwork. If you need to ask sales something, you are going to see the entire department at lunch each day. You also might learn that we have a new client or get to celebrate someone’s success. It’s an ideal time for announcements and updates from the company and from individuals. You might also find out that one of our developers wants to learn more about marketing. At any rate, you are going to gather more about your coworkers than if you ran to McDonald’s.
Productivity
How about coming into your office each day and only having to worry about your job? If you get hungry, get up and grab a snack. Thirsty? There’s soda in the fridge or coffee at the Keurig. Nothing to pack in your lunch? Not to worry, we’ve got it covered here. Sit back, relax and focus on your job.
