Google Analytics Management API Missing Features/Known Bugs

The Google Analytics API is an excellent tool for being able to quickly manage your accounts and make large number of changes across multiple accounts. Unfortunately, there are a number of things that cannot be done with this API yet.

Below is a current list of known bugs and missing features:

  • Insert APP profile into Web property and insert WEB property into APP profile.
    • Workaround: Create profile in the GA UI, then automate changes using the API.
  • Insert UserID profile.
    • Workaround: Create profile in the GA UI, then automate changes using the API.
  • Manage Content Groupings – Unable to interface with these settings using the API.
  • Manage Channel Groupings – Unable to interface with these settings using the API.

Write operations in the Management API (e.g. create, update, delete, patch) for Web Property, View (Profile), and Goal resources are currently available as a developer preview in limited beta. If you’re interested in using these features, request access to the beta.
