2021 was meant to be the year of no self-doubts and making changes—at least that’s how it worked out for me.
Hi, my name is Rita Kubiak, an associate consultant for the digital analytics team. I joined InfoTrust in September 2021 and so far it has been an adventurous journey.
Getting Out of My Comfort Zone
I graduated from Miami University with a marketing degree in 2013. I spent most of my time developing my career in client service and project management prior to joining InfoTrust. Despite the Great Resignation, people move on for other opportunities; and yet, it’s still more common to stay in the field that they are familiar with or already an expert in—but diving deeper is always great, too. That being said, I’ve always been intrigued by the idea of being a data storyteller. When I first found out about InfoTrust and knowing this is a group of analytics fanatics, I became excited and nervous at the same time.
Are We a Fit?
After researching a bit more about InfoTrust, I knew this was the place—it has an amazing work culture that values innovation, respect, growth, and diversity. These core values resonate with me so much, especially diversity. I am originally from China, so coming from an international background, as a minority female, this core value is really important to me and I would only want to work in an environment where companies truly drive for it.
But without much prior analytics experience, how was I supposed to fit into this impressive organization? I am sure the recruiters on the other side could tell my passion through the application, but how could I convince them that I was the right fit—and, most importantly, could I also be convinced that this is the right next step for my career?
The Interview Process
During the first couple of conversations with the recruiters, along with my future teammates, it was important to ensure there is a cultural fit for both applicant and company. Showing you are willing to take ownership, respect one another, have a passion for the analytics field, and always investing yourself in learning and growing is such a big part of being an InfoTruster.
The final round of the interview is to give a presentation on a given analytics topic to an interview panel. For me, this is where the real two-way interview feeling kicked in. When I was given the topic that I had no clue of, I questioned myself—do I truly want to learn and can I handle the task? Thankfully, one full week was provided for individuals to prepare. Thanks to research on Google and YouTube, I was able to deliver a simple, yet comprehensive presentation. This experience also gave me the confidence to tackle tasks that I am not familiar with, making that mental switch of always being hungry to learn and getting ready to (hopefully) be a part of an amazing and smart group of people.
The entire interview process took less than one month, and I was kept informed during every step of the way. Finally, I got into my dream company!
Where Am I Now?
I have met some of the most talented, supportive, and caring people who I have the privilege to work with. Part of what makes my job cool is seeing our clients grow and how I can be a part of helping them reach their analytics maturity. Also, my day-to-day is never the same and filled with challenges; I am constantly growing and learning something new every day. Additionally, InfoTrust makes sure we are equipped with the right tools, resources, and support system so we can be successful and confidently deliver for our clients.
I have also never seen a company that flows so transparently from leadership to individuals—everyone’s voices can be heard and we all have the opportunity to make an impact. This open environment is bringing out our best side as the whole organization is injected with creative and positive energy!
So back to the key question, did I make the right decision? I think the answer is obvious!
Future InfoTrusters, I cannot wait for you to join me on this side. Good luck!
