In today’s workforce, at least here at InfoTrust, we celebrate diversity. But what does that mean, actually? Sure, diversity comes in many forms: Race, gender, religion, sexual orientation, etc. But additionally, lifestyle diversity is another value at InfoTrust that I’ve really grown to appreciate in my time here.
Lifestyle diversity means InfoTrust not only supports but also celebrates InfoTrusters who’ve made diverse and wildly different lifestyle decisions. As you’ve heard from many of my friends here at the company, InfoTrust is great for young parents with small children. We offer paid maternity and paternity leave.
But how about for those of us who are childless and have no piano recitals to dash off to? Or soccer games to attend? Or cheerleading competitions around the state or country to travel for?
Have no fear! InfoTrust has you covered!
Since there is so much writing nowadays about how so many companies “offer great work/life balance”, today I thought I’d give some perspective on work/life balance from another angle that is not as often publicized: Whether childless or not, InfoTrusters have a ton of extracurricular activities available to them by the company that will keep days filled and hearts full.
Being alone does not mean you need to be lonely.
Here at InfoTrust, we recognize that in 2022, different things motivate us and make us all tick. And so if you’re young with a ton of free time, or older and have just decided that a traditional family life is not your cup of tea, here’s a taste of all of the culture that’s available to the InfoTrust fam.
Tuesdays evenings are volleyball nights! Did you know that here in Cincinnati, InfoTrust fields two volleyball teams in the Cincinnati Sports League? That’s right! The competitive Net Servers squad, as well as the more recreational Data Blockers team, compete every week. Starting in May and running throughout the entire summer, every Tuesday evening at Upper Deck at the Cove, we play a match of three games, 6v6 co-ed, sometime between 6pm-10pm, and a season is seven weeks total (with the last two weeks being the playoffs) so each team is guaranteed at least six matches. Additionally, the alcohol and food run aplenty and there’s nothing like warm sand under your feet after a day of staring at the computer screen to make you feel alive. Personally, I’m on the Data Blockers team and while we may not exactly be Olympic material (our collective win/loss game record this past season was 1-17), there’s no doubt that we had fun. Break a sweat! Dive for the ball! And amaze your friends. All in a day’s work!
Of course, if the mere thought of physical exertion exhausts you, then there are movie nights! Formally, movie nights usually happen once a month, and are usually correlated to the “Celebrate” theme of that month. For example, March was Women’s History Month so everyone ended work early one afternoon and we congregated in the kitchen to eat buttery hot popcorn (we’ve got an actual popcorn machine!), candy, and watch Ruth Bader Ginsberg (Felicity Jones from Rogue One!) kick ass in On the Basis of Sex. Most recently, June was Pride Month and the movie was The Bird Cage so we got quintessential Robin Williams and Nathan Lane being hilarious. Finally, what’s really great about movie night is that since InfoTrust is a hybrid company (nearly half of the company works remotely!), movie nights are always streamed online too via Meet or Discord so no InfoTruster feels left out. After all, #oneteamonedream!
Wrapping things up, there is of course everyone’s favorite weekly happy hour on Thursdays. Every Thursday starting at 4pm in the kitchen, InfoTrusters wrap up their various client calls and work-related activities to retire to the long tables to imbibe and unwind. The beer fridge is fully stocked and snacks are everywhere the eye can see so for at least an hour it’s really like you’re just hanging out with your friends. Because you are! Additionally, in the summers, once a month the company also sponsors a field trip to Higher Gravity, right across the road in Summit Park, so InfoTrusters can knock back the lagers and get some well-deserved sunshine as well.
And that’s just the tip of the iceberg …
… there’s also a monthly book club, the Cincy Foodie Exploration Crew, the Summer Shred Challenge, and so much more! In short, if you’re socially inclined and looking for extracurricular fun, InfoTrust is an absolute dream company for you. Between volleyball, weekly happy hours, movie nights, book clubs, food exploration expeditions, and so much more, it’s possible to stay plenty busy on weeknights and even weekends with the InfoTrust fam. And, of course—feel free to join as many or as few as you wish because, after all, that’s what it means to be at InfoTrust: There’s always a place for you, no matter who you are or what you like to do!
