Recently, we launched a new project at the Cincinnati Washington Park. Now park visitors can use their mobile devices to select what music is being played in the park, and the park fountain will play to the music selected. You can read more about this project in my previous blog post.

In this blog post, I want to explain in greater detail how our mobile website works. A lot of people outside the Cincinnati area will not get to experience this product, and I want to showcase what the technology does. I hope more people will decide to visit Washington Park and try this out.

1. Home

You can access the mobile website by visiting m.classicalwalkoffame.org. If you visit classicalwalkoffame.org on a mobile device, you will also be redirected to a mobile version of the site. There is also a desktop version of the site that tells you more about the project and shares more information about each American Classical Hall of Fame Inductees. As you can see below, on the home screen you can view all the inductees or check out the Fountain and Plaza Queue. The queue will tell you what music will be playing next either in the fountain area of the park or in the plaza area.

2. Inductees

Park visitors can select an inductee’s music sample by going to the Inductees page. Currently, American Classical Music Hall of Fame has 100 inductees. Music samples are continuously being added to the site, and soon all 100 will be available for listening. As you can see below, the inductees page can be sorted by Plays, Name, Type and Year. You can also start typing the inductee’s name in the search box, and it will narrow down your search accordingly.

3. About Inductee

Once you find an Inductee whose music and career you are interested in, just select them from the list and you will be taken to their profile page.  There, you can listen to their music, read their bio, listen to the WGUC tour and listen to a special program that was designed for kids. WGUC has put together wonderful tours about each Inductee and their life and career.

4. Listen to Inductee Music

When you decide to listen to the Inductee music sample, there are three options:

    • Play on Fountain – if you select this option, your music sample will be played at the fountain part of the park, and the fountain will “dance” to the music.
    • Play on Plaza – your selection will played in the plaza part of the park.
    • Play on Mobile Device – you will be able to listen to your selection right on your mobile device

5. Play on Fountain or on Plaza

Once you select to play the inductee’s music sample in the fountain area or in the plaza area, a Thank You message will appear inviting you to check out the Jukebox.

6. View Plaza Jukebox and Queue

Most likely, you will not be the only person in the park using this site. Therefore, once you add a music sample to the Queue, it will be one of many requested by park visitors. Once you see the Queue, you can vote for other music samples. This is what makes this experience so social. You can vote only once for each music sample. The order of music samples in the Queue is dictated not just by the time  it was added, but also by how many people voted for it. On top of the screen you can toggle between Plaza and Fountain Queues.

7. Listening to Music on the Phone

If you decide to listen to the music sample on your phone, a player will appear allowing you to listen to the music sample right on your phone.

I hope that this tour has been useful to users who have not used this site yet, or have not visited the park yet. We hope everyone gets a chance to visit the park and enjoy this interactive experience. To learn more about the technology, feel free to email us at info@infotrustllc.com.
