Week in the Life of an Account Executive

Hello there! I’m Stephanie, a recruiter here at InfoTrust. I’m back with another edition of a Week in the Life of Series, where our recruiting team meets with various InfoTrusters to learn more about what a week in their role looks like. This time I sat down with Danielle Perkins to learn what a week looks like for her as an account executive on our Partnerships and Growth team.

SH: Thanks, Danielle, for taking the time to talk with me about your role! Tell me, how long have you been at InfoTrust?

DP: I have been at InfoTrust for almost one year. I started in September of 2021.

SH: What initially drew you to InfoTrust and the account executive role?

DP: It was two things: I think the first was the fact that the role was in the digital analytics industry, which is a space that is absolutely growing. The more you can do digitally, the better. I also was really drawn to the company’s values, the fact that we believe in the “give to grow” philosophy and stand for a bigger purpose than just the day-to-day grind of work really appealed to me. The culture and the people are a part of that as well and was a huge draw.

SH: How would you describe the sales account executive position at InfoTrust?

DP: It’s a great role! We get to work with clients on a day-to-day basis, understand any problems in their business that they have, and help solve them, which is the crux of why they like us. We care about their problems and what is going on with them. I spend a lot of time on the phone with clients, listening to what their problems are, talking about our solutions, and helping them realize the value of whatever engagement they have with us. A good example: a client of mine is investing a lot in media, but they were not sure which tactics were yielding the best ROI. So, we are doing a study with them to help them analyze the details, so they can make more conscious media investments and yield better ROI.

SH: Finish this sentence. Someone would enjoy the account executive role if they enjoy …

DP: Talking to clients and having a lot of hustle. I think it’s important in the role to be someone who always wants more and is hungry for whatever is next. If you’re that kind of person, then you would like an account executive role, as we’re always looking for more growth.

SH: What does a typical week look like for you?

DP: Well, I am big into sales fundamentals, which is all about having enough in your pipeline to then yield sales, so I try to have at least 10 client interactions in a week, or two each day ideally. I actually put those as red on my calendar, so it’s really easy to see visually and make sure I have enough. Then, I block time to do outreach to send my current clients whatever our latest offer is or maybe it’s some trends that have recently come out, blog posts, or anything like that. We also have several different team meetings throughout the week. The first is our Monday “ABC: Always Be Closing” meeting. We share what we’re working on and what our week has been like and go through our sales funnel. Then, we have two quick 15-minute touch bases throughout the week just to check in. I also have a 1-on-1 with my manager weekly. On Fridays, there is a larger team meeting where we report out on sales that are coming and make sure that the delivery teams are ready to receive those projects.

SH: Anything else about your role or InfoTrust that you think would be helpful for someone who is considering applying?

DP: I think what’s great about being an account executive at InfoTrust is that essentially we’re selling people who deliver great work. I’ve been in account executive roles where that “product” if you will, doesn’t deliver super well and that doesn’t make you look good. What I love about being here is that all of our consultants are so gifted, that once they start working with the client, the client is typically delighted and that leads to more work.

I think what is also great about being at InfoTrust is that you are cared about as a person, which I appreciate so much. The leadership understands that work is a part of your life, not your whole life—and that is a big differentiator.
